About me
Who am I
I am Alessandro Miliucci, a developer, author and speaker. Although I have many interests, software development is what I devote most of my time to and what I am best known for. I have also written a few books on software development.
I currently work for Fabrick, an European Fintech company, as a Tech Lead, where I deal with scalability and optimisation issues, from the frontend to the database.
During my career I have spent a lot of time working on start-ups such as Hype, the first Italian neo-bank, and Vidra, an e-commerce SaaS that I co-Founded and held the role of CTO until it was acquired.
My main goal is to create software and to create teams that create excellent software. To create excellent software you need to have a deep understanding of the problem domain and, at the same time, you need to have a good knowledge of the technologies you use. For this reason my interests range over all aspects of software: from user interfaces to databases, including network protocols.
What is this site?
I created this site to keep track of my activities related to the software. Although I write a lot, little of the material created to date has ended up on this site, while a lot can be found on StackOverflow.
I usually publish updates about my activities on LinkedIn, the only walled garden I actively use.
Writing
In recent years I’ve started writing books about technologies that I have used to create software. So far I have published one on React and another on Node.js, both published by Apogeo for the Italian market. I am working on other volumes that will be published in the next few years. You can find more information about my books on this page.
Speaking
I regularly participate as a speaker at meetups and conferences to talk about topics related to software. Over the years I have given talks on topics such as React, Node.js, MongoDB, Docker, security, distributed systems… Talks are a great way to share your ideas and exchange opinions with your audience. You can find an almost complete list of my talks on this page.
Communities
I am very active in the world of Italian communities. For several years now I have been co-organiser of the monthly RomaJS meetup, the longest-running community dedicated to software in Italy (active since 2013). For some years now I have also been co-organiser of the Rome MongoDB User Group (they gave me the title of Community Leader).
